Steam or itch.io
I would pick Steam on a Windows PC if I wanted achievements and the current numbered patch. I would pick itch.io on a Mac, a Linux box, a phone, or a browser.
Packaging
Steam ACM1 includes mature content in the base game. Steam ACM2 sells a separate NSFW DLC that restores Cup of Sex scenes; the base game does not include those scenes. itch offers builds per page, including a separate Safe Edition and a free ACM2 Deluxe public build. That Deluxe label is not automatically the Steam bundle. ACM1 paid itch files were unavailable after the payment pause, with Discord as the developer's workaround.
Content drift
Public itch ACM1 was v0.9.4 while Steam was 1.4.00. Do not assume a guide for one store’s version applies to the other.
Questions
Which has the adult scenes?
Steam ACM1 includes adult content. Steam ACM2 requires its separate NSFW DLC for Cup of Sex scenes. On itch, use the adult game page or the separate Safe Edition according to your preference.
Can I use a Steam key on itch?
I have no such program to describe.
